Services for Charles Wayne Ford, 61, Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 16, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend Sherman Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.


Mr. Ford died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at his residence. He was born October 27, 1949, in Tyler to Curtis Henry Ford, Sr. and Geneva Fields Ford. He was a lifetime resident of East Texas. 


He loved to hunt and fish and had been a member of the Tyler Gun Club where he taught skeet shooting. He was a member of the Lake Tyler Baptist Church.


Mr. Ford was a retired truck driver.


Mr. Ford treasured and loved his grandchildren and was especially proud of his sons’ military service.


He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Henry Ford, Sr. and a sister-in-law, Toni Ford.


Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris W. and Jennifer Ford, Fort Bragg, South Carolina and Tim and Luanne Ford, Andrews; a daughter and son-in-law, Philana and Darrin Alexander, Conroe; his mother, Geneva Fields Ford, Troup; three brothers and a sister-in-law, C.H. Ford, Jr. and Pat Ford, Tyler, Leslie Ford, Troup and Cliff Ford; grandchildren, Darren Ford, Constance Ford, Christian Ford, Wyatt Ford, and Carson Wayne Ford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Family members will serve as pallbearers.

 

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Timberline Baptist Camp, 15363 FM 849, Lindale, Texas 75771.


The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, July 15.

I was sad to read about Wayne, he was a good friend and will be missed. He dated my sister Nola who passed away in 1989, he always gave me a big hug when we visited.  I'll remember his big smile and great sense of humor.
