I want all our classmates that have gone on before us to have a rose by their name in the profile list so I am adding this to all of them.  dc

Karen died suddenly while she and her family were out of state. I believe it was about 5 or 6 years ago

Karen passed away on May 3, 2003. She was with her family out of state and died very suddenly. She was married to Orin Hale.

There was a very moving tribute to her by the Winona Volunteer Fire Depart where she was very active in supporting that organization. I had known Karen since early childhood as both of our fathers worked together at Mrs. Baird's Bread Company for a good many years. I remember she loved life and laughter.

Karen was one of my best friends in junior high and high school. She was a sweet and caring person. We somehow lost touch over the years and I regret that. We had a lot of fun together. I remember drivers ed with her and Coach Gilcrest & going to Stuckey's on I20. We had sleep overs and stayed up all night playing "45" records and talking about our boy friends. We were Blue Brigade officers together and we taught 6th period. Those little sophomores gave use so much trouble. We use to drag Broadway in her pretty blue mustang she got for graduation. We went on shopping trips to North Park Mall in Dallas and went on double dates with Bob Gibson and Gary Whitehead. I miss her funny sense of humor and her smiling face but I'll see her again one day.

Karen and I were friends since the 7th grade and kept in contact thru the years. My best friend.....She and Oren were in OK for a weekend when she suddenly died. It was quite a surprise to me when I got a phone call letting me know since we had just emailed each other a few days before. Robert and I were able to attend the funeral service in Winona and it was quite impressive to see her students, faculty friends and the volunteer firemen from the area all in attendance.

Karen and I were very close friends around the age of 4-6 and we stayed friends.  Her birthday was on December 1 and mine was on December 25.    She lived 3 houses down from me and she and her little brother, Lee Roy, would play together every day.  I  especially remember one fall day one of our families got the Sears Christmas catalog  (remember those?)  Any way, both of us would turn 6 that coming December and we were on her front porch looking through the catalog.  We decided that when we turned 6 we would be grown-up. When my father died Karen and her sisters came and paid their respects.  That was in 1981.  After that, we lost touch with each other.  How sad.  Karen with you up there in Heaven looking down one me,  I'm a grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 1 and I still don't feel grown up.  Do you?
